Wind Ensemble, Chorale performance will be a concert of 'a different color'

About 80 musicians from two of Kent State's "most advanced" music groups will join forces Sunday.
The Wind Ensemble and the Chorale will perform a free concert in Cartwright Hall at 7:30 p.m.
Director of Chorale Activities, C.M. Shearer, said the concert is an opportunity "to experience music written for wind ensembles and choirs," much of which, he said, is overlooked.
Dennis Roden, a graduate student in choir direction, said performances with the Wind Ensemble have "a different color."
Terri Wuelfing, senior art history major, said the Chorale consists of members of last semester's Chorale, as well as new members.
She said the group rehearses three days a week. Members receive one credit hour per semester.
"It's difficult to tell who the new people are, so that's good," she said.
Shearer said he isn't worried about his students' performance.
"Motivating (the performers) is not a problem," he said. "These are some of the most advanced groups on campus."
Assistant professor of piano Jerry Wong will perform a concerto with the Wind Ensemble.
