Former president Bill Clinton, Gov. Ted Strickland and former Sen. John Glenn rallied for Hillary Clinton Friday night at the Kent State Tuscarawas branch.
About 1,000 people gathered in the Tuscarawas campus' gymnasium to hear Bill Clinton discuss Hillary Clinton's ideas about health care, the Iraq war and education.
"You will never have to drop out of school because you're scared of spending another 10 or 20 thousand dollars," Bill Clinton said of Hillary's plans to improve private student loan costs.
Greg Andrews, dean of the Tuscarawas campus called the even history-making.
"We are honored to have the Clinton campaign choose our campus," Andrews said.
Katy Kreinbihl, sophomore advertising major at the Tuscarawas campus and a resident of nearby Gnadenhutten, said she thinks the campaign chose to hold the event at the campus because it was in a rural town.
"People like us really do make a difference at the polls," she said.
Kreinbihl said that she attended the event to because she was interested in Hillary Clinton's health care plan.
"I learned more about her plans for Iraq, too," Kreinbihl said.
