The Kent State men's basketball team (25-5, 11-2 Mid-American Conference) received 125 votes to earn the No.23 ranking in the AP Top 25 poll. The Flashes also received 30 votes in the ESPN/USA Today's coaches poll while earning the No.24 spot.

It is the first time a Mid-American Conference team has been ranked in the Top 25 in the regular season since Ball State was ranked for four weeks in 2001.

It is the first time the Flashes are in the Top 25 since the end of the Elite 8 season in 2002, when the Flashes finished 12 in the final AP poll.

The ranking comes two days after the Flashes defeated No.20 St.Mary's in California. The Flashes currently lead the MAC East and have the best overall record in the conference.

Also, junior guard Al Fisher, who tied a career-high against St.Mary's with 28 points, was named MAC player of week for the second time in a row. It his fourth time being named conference player of the week, the most of any player in the conference.
