Enter the Dance

Andrea Shearer stood before a nearly full E. Turner Stump Theatre last night and invited audience members to "expect the unexpected and prepare to 'enter the dance.'" Shearer, coordinator of the dance division within the School of Theatre and Dance, prepared the audience for Verlezza Dance, a company that performed seven pieces that highlighted the idea that anyone can dance. Kent State extended its losing streak today to three games after losing to Bowling Green 31-20. In a game that mirrored the Akron and Miami game, the Flashes struggled to keep drives alive, committed 10 penalties for 89 yards and failed to convert on crucial third and fourth downs in the redzone. The Ohio Board of Regents will give Kent State $237,584 this year, and similar funds every year for the next 10 years, to boost funding for doctoral programs focusing on science and technology. The money comes from the Innovation Incentive Program, which requires universities to reallocate state doctoral funds to programs that could stimulate economic growth. (0) comments

Salem's new building brings campus to city

The Salem campus has found a permanent home for its Workforce Development and Continuing Studies Offices, as well as a home for a few community non-profit organizations. In Fall 2006, the campus bought the former Salem Middle School and converted the building into the Kent State University City Center. (0) comments

World-traveling Cleveland art exhibit comes home
