City Council elections are next week. The editorial board has put together a short list of candidates for wards 5 and 6, the wards that most affect campus. Take these for what you will, but, most importantly, vote on Tuesday. WARD 5 Mike Pfahl What does he do? The Kent State alumnus is now assistant university counsel. (0) comments

In the words of Dwight Schrute, from NBC's "The Office," "There's nothing on my horizon except everything. Everything is on my horizon." A little more than a week from now, I'll be done with finals and walking across the stage in the M.A.C. Center. In about two weeks, I'll pack my bags and move to Lansing, Mich., for the first chapter of my post-collegiate life. (1) comment

Wow. Five semesters of writing objectively and informing students about the world around them, and now, I get to inform my readers about what's going on in my world. Well, as the famous saying goes, "this ship has sailed." After four years at Kent State, I'm moving on to the next chapter of my life: the real world. (1) comment

In an apparent attempt to commemorate the events of May 4, 1970, the May 4 Task Force has decided that bringing Cindy Sheehan to speak on campus is the most suitable way for the student body to be enlightened as to what lessons should be discerned from the May 4 incident. (10) comments

As I sit here with a dissolvable tobacco mint in my mouth, I wonder why it was ever made. On Tuesday, a fellow editor asked me to try a new tobacco product. You're graduating. It's the beginning of the rest of your life. I hate it when people say that. Screw them. Your life has already existed for 20-some years. I find the annoying voice in my head thinking, "What have you done with the past four years?" Well, I've realized that drinking isn't a bad thing that only the crazy wild kids do. (1) comment

It is often said that "nice guys finish last" and it's usually the excuse guys give for treating women cruelly. Guys assume that women want "bad guys," and we think nice guys are weak. Whoever put this memo out should be shot. They've ruined all chances for the women, including myself, who actually appreciate nice guys. (2) comments

I remember this time of year at Kent State very well; it seemed that students came out of the woodwork from every direction to set foot on campus after their winter hibernation. Spring also always seemed to bring with it the inevitable question many ask themselves as they prepare to graduate: "What on earth am I going to do with this degree???" If the economy in Ohio is anything like the toilet bowl that it was when I graduated in 2002 (and judging by the headlines, it is), those of you soon to graduate may be hearing the same thing from your professors that I did.
