The candidates for Undergraduate Student Senate had their final opportunities to debate their opponents and explain their platforms yesterday before Wednesday's election. The forum, held in the Rathskeller, was moderated by Jason Lunsford, senior political science major, and focused on students and their questions to the candidates.
Administrators at public universities received a median salary increase of 3.5 percent this year, according to the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources' annual Administrative Compensation Survey. The organization examines human resources management and development in higher education.
Shane Carrico spends his days surrounded by mannequin body parts and power tools. But Carrico is not a dollmaker - he is the exhibitions coordinator for the Kent State University Museum, and his duties are wide-ranging. An average day might consist of building platforms, making mannequins, painting hair and lighting clothing.

A group of women, a rubber nipple and a breast pump as a door prize took the spotlight at a discussion of women's issues at the Stark campus yesterday. The Women's History Month Committee sponsored "Working Mothers and Breastfeeding: Is it all it's cracked up to be?," where a group of 15 gathered and shared stories of why they chose to breastfeed.
Ravenna police arrested two 17-year-old suspects Tuesday on active Kent Police Department warrants for a non-fatal shooting that occurred last month on Starr Avenue. Police continue to search for a possible third suspect, but no warrant has been issued, said Sgt.
Low attendance at Black History Month events is a cause for concern among black student leaders. But it isn't much of a surprise. Attendance at the events was generally low, said Matt Cox, president of Black United Students. He said he attended as many events as he could during the month to show support for other organizations and noticed the small audiences.
The "World's Largest Concert" will be held at Kent State Stark campus today at noon. The "concert" is actually a time when groups of students around the world will all sing together in support of music education in schools. It will be broadcast on WVIZ and the PAX network today at 1 p.
