I think that Fire Safety Demonstration is a good thing to teach people how to prevent and escape from a fire.

So...um...ma'am/sir? Why are you having to dig up an article from Sep 07 dealving into such an important issue? One might think that, being as important as it is given the various stages of development the Residence Services Halls find themselves in...such "fire safety" demonstrations might be provided on a more regular basis.

I'm sure the newbies each year might find such information useful!

Lets face facts, none of those 'rat traps' that people rent to students have fire sprinklers. Its cost prohibitive for those owners, (who want to make a quick buck, and the more they can make the better it is for them to keep costs down to a minimum).

A lot of them dont have fire escapes, or saftey ladders that they can drop out of a window, in order for thier clients to escape! You take your life in to your own hands when you live off campus, in a multi-family house, because you dont know who smokes, or will violate the no-smoking policy that maybe enforced in those rooms. You have to rely on the intellegence and safe habits of people you dont even know, and you know a lot of people who are out on thier own for the first time are the most mixed up people in the World, because they live like rats, and you wonder what thier Parents taught them??!!
(I have to reason, thats why they dont let first year students live off campus for that reason...get the 'newness' out of them and see if they get some sense to themselves in thier 2nd year, eh?

Just my opinion.

May the LORD Bless each of you.

I wish you well...

Hi Jesse! I hope you're feeling well now. Um...while I don't follow such statistics, do you have any idea as to how many fires have been reported in private sector rental units as opposed to those on the Campus of K.S.U.?

I do know that the City of Kent's "fire-code" and "rental-code" is strictly enforded. Please report any violations of same you might come across to the proper authorities, eh?
