You have fallen prey to one of the deadly writing ills of the 21st century. It is the implied elitism of tossing around acronyms. I have no earthly idea of what PARTA means. Maybe it's a local thing, but I'm out of state and feel totally shut out. I have spent years in broadcasting, public education and municipal government and have fought valiantly to eliminate these stumbling blocks to communication. I despise the nebulous terms such as ADHD and the alphabet soup of moronic expressions tossed around by shrinks trying to justify their existence. To them, I usually reply, "Oh, you mean 'LSMFT,' huh?" Ridiculous. I will translate for the younger non-smoking whippersnapper readers: "Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco." Put that in your Word Programme and smoke it.
Although I write this with tongue firmly implanted where it ought to be, I remain deadly serious in my dislike for nebulous acronyms. Thank you.
