Abstract:
midst of a column series about prejudice and its ever-changing impact on our society. I knew when I started this series that I wanted to address sexism....
Although my situation is different I understand exactly how you feel. When I transferred to Kent State I was excited to be part of a campus full of diversity. I was sure that I would be able to connect with people who were like me. I've been here for almost a year, and other than my boyfriend and guy friends...well, I've yet to really connect with any other females. I love camping, nature and practically any other outdoor pursuit you can name. I don't really care about fashion or other "girly" interests--and I definately feel alienated. Guys have always shared more of my interests, yet, I hate being labeled masculine. I'm just me, a girl who has interests other than fixing my hair and painting my nails.
i know what you mean...
