Who cares if it wasn't a real gun? If you're going around waving anything that even looks like it could be a real gun in people's windows, you should be arrested. The balcony doors on the first floor in these buildings are creepy enough. I've seen people go in these doors when they get home, leaving them unlocked. Maybe I'm paranoid, but anyone could walk around trying to open these doors, find an unlocked one and easily break into people's apartments. I'd feel uneasy seeing someone with "just a pellet gun" standing there too.

Chris, I agree completely. I live on the 7th floor for that reason! At least then I know the only way someone can come in is if I forget to double lock my door, and I never do. Also, you are right, if you are waving something around that looks like a gun and you make people feel unsafe and uncomfortable, you should be punished. It's not like pellet guns don't hurt! Because they sure do!

Same here. I wanted to live low so I could avoid waiting for the elevators, but I refused to live on the first floor, so I live on the second. Be careful on the 7th too. Word is, either a disgruntled employee or someone on the 7th floor with a ladder is getting on the roof and throwing things at cars. Not a stretch to think they could get onto balconies up there too. Make sure you lock your balcony door.

Wow, if you guys believe everything you see or hear after just a few lines on a website, and no facts, here are some truths for you then.
Barney really does love you, Clinton really didn't inhale, and Nixon really wasn't a criminal. Because what I see here, true or not, is someone being put in cuffs, and nothing to verify fact in the matter. Remember, truth is in how someone believes it is, fact is what can be seen and felt.

the main thing to verify is that this arrested man was behaving in a way that caused too much suspicion and legitimately made these residents feel endangered. whether he had a real gun nor not is 2nd place to what his intentions were by carrying this item around.

Please read this and I am posting anouther message this is alittle long.
hello I am Michael Sholtis mother I want to be heard.I love my kids more than life and Michael went overboard in anger and having been shot myself I understand it was scary. The reason is a car frequently speeds through the parking area almost hit his car and he lost his temper& small children live there. Now when you see the video the man laying at the driveway is my 61 yr.old husband of 23yrs.major health problems that should not have happened.he brought a friend to visit as they pulled into the driveway there were police cars with police out of them loading their assault rifles. They let people through???If they were so concerned that a dangerous situation was happening and they let people enter?????Mike was outside talking to his dad
They over reacted they scared us all I am not well myself and the only reason their son was not there was because he is sick and the disabled man they take care of his immune system is comprovised and we share taking care of him.My son has had a couple strokes and has a heart problem things calmed down before the police attacked.
My son made a terrible decision and was angry because that car could kill children.Dont be so quick to judge I am apologizing to all who were affected I ask that anyone speaking or posting remember we are humans and you dont have all the facts.
Thano you for your time I have one more post.

Hi again.I wanted to also clarify something I have PTSD and COPD need to be on oxygen and if I would have been there it would had seriously jepordized my health. It did anyway I was on the phone through it all and am having nightmares and asthma attack which is really nasty cause I add some surgery in my mouth OUCH but this is what I feel should happen soon and has been a source of concern
having a grassy area leading to the parked cars.
If you have kids or visitors with kids are they safe to play outside?I dont think so.I propose that everyone there all 7+ floors take a petition and have many sign it to have management put a fence where the grass ends so kids dont run through the cars.A much better choice and if they say no perhaps all the tenents there could put one up themselves.A simple picket fence with gates well maybe one for every four apts.Think on that it would be the best thing to do.Again thank you

Maybe the best thing for this dude would have been to inquire at the landlord's office about putting speed bumps at various places in the parking lot.

Cooler heads always prevail.

First, Linda, I am sorry about your family's health problems. However, neither that nor a speeding car justifies "losing his temper" in that manner. I have seen the cars in the parking lot speed by on their way to B building. My friend's car has indeed been hit in the parking lot by a negligent driver. And I have seen the small children in the building. However, these things do not justify or excuse behaving in such a manner. If I were to take out even a BB gun and use it in anger to menace other people for any reason, I would expect to face punishment for my actions.

On another note, the police probably had guns because of a report that the suspect was armed. If I were a police officer, I would probably want to be ready if I were reporting to a call where the suspect is said to be armed. If the people calling do not understand the gun was just a pellet gun and not a real gun, all they would have told the police is that someone outside the building has a gun, which would be all the information police have to react to.

I agree with Andrew, cooler heads should prevail and the issue should be taken up with words in the management office, not with what would amount to "vigilante justice." That kind of action (petitioning, bringing up the subject in the office) I would support, as I agree the speeding cars are a potential danger. However, nothing justifies an action that seems to be along the same lines of "road rage."

With everything being taken into account, where do the POLICE get off LETTING PEOPLE IN AND OUT of the parking lot? WHY didn't they use their cars to block off the entrances? THE POLICE were giving this man ample opportunity to escape and do it again elsewhere.

On another note, have ANY of you commenters EVER TRIED to get the office staff to get off their butts and fix the problems between tenants? ESPECIALLY after they have gone home for the night? NO I Can safely bet not. I live in College Towers as well and it takes them MONTHS to do ANYTHING! They refuse to do anything. All they do is have you call tenant emergency and expect someone else to do the work.
So for all you 'ask the landlord' people, telling the office will do nothing, to get anything done we tenants have to take it to the corporate level, because our office staff doesn't have the authority to deal with these problems.

This is Mikes mom again.
I agree our health issues did not excuse my sons actions that wasnt the point I wanted to inform that any crime there is a criminal and a victim what poeple dont always understand is that the victims family and friends are victims too.
.I am relieved to see replys about why the cops let people come in that is how a panic starts for everyone because they did not protect YOU!!! I love my son and he will have his day in court but the issues about the danger of small kids running ahead and nothing to stop the even for just a second it can save their lives just enough of a fence to insure a little safety.I have heard the owners arent very concerned about a lot of repairs and Mike did several times tried to get something done with the drive I bet you are frustated i hope everyone never have this happen again. If you c an get help with a fence it would be cheaper that fixing the driveway.
I understand the scare I was attacked and shot and my dad was robbed at gun point in his church bathroom and kids are taking guns to school and killing people. I am out of thoughts brain lock/fibro fog has set in LOL we are losing our house and I will be to busy to do much on line.Take care may your school year be fantastic

While reaction like this is both sad and upsetting. The bottom line is that this is an individual who probebly needs professional help. At least no one was injured.
