What a positive note on such a great facility for young people with diabetes.

Any time you can get children to get out among thier peers and interact and have something in common is a great learning experience that can last a lifetime, and be very beneficial, both to quell the stigma that "my child" has diabetes, and cant "do" certain things because of it.

You are only limited by your own limitations that you put on yourselves, and its the chains of your mind that will keep you captive and held back from reaching your full potential.

I wish you well...

I have had Type I diabetes for almost 14 years and I was a camper @ Camp Ho Mita Koda for 10 years. I can honestly say that Camp HMK really teaches young people with diabetes how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It is also comforting to parents to know that their children's health is a priority while they are away from home. Camp HMK also hosts children with Cystic Fibrosis and PKU...

Great article!!! I went to this camp over 30 years ago and I believe it taught me things that I would have otherwise never learned. I was a scared little kid and my mom tried to help me fit in and not feel different. Camp HMK helped me to understand the differences and learn that I wasn't alone.
If you have diabetic kids or young adults it is worth it to go check this place out!!

Great article! You make it sound like a fun place for kids with diabetes to attend -- and a fun place for college students to work at in the summer.
