This is rather unethical. Naming the kid when the police report hasn't even come out yet. What are you thinking. And on top of that naming the organizations he is part of. Have a bit more class and dignity. This is the worst thing I have seen you guys do. I am disgusted. I am sure the University doesn't appreciate this either.

Again, another journalism 'expert' commenting on KNN. The FIRE DEPARTMENT also puts out a report. Which is also PUBLIC INFORMATION. Just like a police report. How would naming is name be unethical? It's a newspaper, that's what they do. And really, the stater is an independent organization, not a PR machine for the university -- so it shouldn't matter what the university 'appreciates.' the stater is doing their job, and doing a good job at it.

Another thing. The reason why they named the organizations that he is a part of is for full disclosure. they can't report on somebody who works in student media without first disclosing that information.

This is rediculous. Take this down. The police report hadn't even came out when this was published. Poor Journalism. Not too ethical.

So you're like a journalism expert? Fire department and police records are public information. How would it be 'unethical' to print basic public information? I think your comment is 'rediculous.'

Doesn't matter if the police report is out - fire departments run sheets are public record. His name would be on that. FD must provide that information.

And it's transparency saying he's a part of Kent News Net - it shows that they're not treating him any differently because he's a part of student media. AND the university be damned if they don't like it being reported. It happened, it's public and it should be reported.

Good job KNN.

I am glad we have a conclusion on this story.

The reality of it is that someone was seriously hurt. When will people realize drugs kill and it can happen to them. Poor judgement call! I feel for the family.
