National Fire Protection Association Carbon Monoxide Safety Tips:





Install carbon monoxide alarms in a central location outside each sleeping area



Call your local fire department to find out what number to call if the alarm sounds



Test your carbon monoxide alarm at least once a month



Have fuel-burning heating equipment professionally inspected each year



Remember that carbon monoxide alarms are not substitutes for smoke alarms.



Be able to recognize the difference in sound between a carbon monoxide and smoke alarm



Never use an oven to heat your home



If using a fireplace, make sure the flue is open for adequate ventilation
